The Sulfur Crested Cockatoo has tall crests that range from pink to yellow. They go from their fore-head, to the back of the neck. It has the legs of a chicken. It has three toes per foot. It ranges from 44-55 cm tall. The sulfur crested Cockatoos weigh up to 950 grams. Their wing span is usually about 103 centimeters. The cockatoo is in the parrot family. It has many of the same behaviors as other birds. The Sulfur Crested Cockatoo’s breeding season varies depending on its location. For example; in Australia, its breeding season is from August, to the January of the next year. They also can be put in pairs, or in groups of hundreds. It isn’t nocturnal. The Sulfur Crested Cockatoo can be bait for some animals, but the bird does not eat much meat. It eats wheat, and wild berries off of the ground. After the breeding season has begun, the number of babies that the Sulfur Crested Cockatoo has varies from 2-3 at a time. The cycle may repeat a couple of times. After that has happened, the gestation period is 25, and 27 days while the eggs are looked after. The young are called chicks. The Sulfur Crested Cockatoo is found in the islands of Tasmania, and Eastern Australia, where the forests are big. They are also found in places life Madagascar, and South East Africa. The Sulfur Crested Cockatoo can be found I a lot of places. They are all in the South Pacific. |
